Port Douglas and in particular the Great Barrier Reef have been super busy of late with tourists flourishing to escape the winter cold down south and the fish life on the GBR has turned it up in order to match!
We’ve just returned from a 6 day live-aboard luxury fishing expedition alongside our gameboat Zulu. 8 guests joined us on board Beluga for the trip of lifetime, travelling up north along the Ribbon Reefs with fishing being the forefront of the adventure. Morning sessions typically consisted of trolling the reef’s edge for spanish mackerel and other pelagic species, and the midday/afternoon session was targeting coral trout and other prized eating fish – All whilst accomodating and dining on board Beluga to rest some weary arms with a red wine in hand and great company.
Our international guests had a fabulous trip and are already planning their next visit! We don’t blame them… 😉
Minke Whales were also welcome visitors throughout the trip. Minke Whales are typically present in our region only over a few weeks of the year and we were fortunate enough to have some follow us around our anchorages throughout our last trip. We have a very unique MINKE EXPEDITION in the works for next June/July so make sure you subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to know!
We head out again this weekend for 5 days and hope to travel out to Bougainville Reef in the Coral sea at our guest’s request to dive some amazing locations which are largely uninhibited by visiting guests. We can’t wait!
