MY Beluga

Beluga is a 34.7M custom built Moonen explorer-style motor yacht built in 2006 and last refitted 2011. She was built as a go-anywhere yacht with a robust elegant style, a wide beam, and therefore unusually large volume for her length.

Beluga, being an explorer displacement yacht, is equipped with an ultra-modern stabilisation system which reduces roll motion effect and results in a smoother more enjoyable cruising experience.

Beluga is built to comply to MCA and Lloyds Register standards. She has a cruising speed of 10 knots, max speed of 13.50 knots and a range of 4500.00nm from her 45,000.00l supply.

Beluga’s interior layout sleeps up to 10 guests in 5 staterooms, including a master suite, 2 double cabins, 2 twin cabins and 2 pullman beds. She normally typically carries up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Timeless styling, beautiful furnishings and sumptuous seating feature throughout her living areas to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere.

Beluga offers expedition style charters (set itineraries and dates), private live-aboard charters, mother shipping in Far North Queensland for the annual heavy tackle marlin season, and joint fishing/diving/leisure trips with our other vessels to expand your options.

We tailor personalised charters to meet our guest’s desires.

Main deck:

Spacious aft deck for dining/ cocktails; main salon leads off the aft deck; dining table for 10 guests is midship; powder room on the main deck foyer.

Lower deck:

Four guest staterooms, 2 double and 2 twins each with pullman. All cabins have plentiful storage space and bathrooms with underfloor heating.

Main deck: Spacious aft deck for dining/ cocktails; main salon leads off the aft deck; dining table for 12 guests is midship; powder room on the main deck foyer; Forward on the main deck is the master’s suite with private office. The suite spreads full beam to ensure privacy. There is plentiful wardrobe space and a large bathroom with bathtub, double shower and underfloor heating.

Lower deck: Four guest staterooms, 2 double and 2 twins each with pullman. All cabins have plentiful storage space and bathrooms with underfloor heating.

Bridge deck: The sky lounge connects through a sliding glass door to the glass-enclosable upperdeck with overhead heaters. The wheelhouse includes a settee for viewing the great outdoors.

Sundeck: Jacuzzi, wet bar, exercise equipment, dining table, sun lounging pads

Monkey Island or “grand crow’s nest”: Ideal place for whale watching, reef spotting, or enjoying a champagne sunset.

Accommodation Options

Forward on the main deck is the master suite with private office. The suite spreads full beam to ensure privacy. There is plentiful wardrobe space and a large bathroom with bathtub, double shower and underfloor heating.

Double cabin 1 is situated on the lower deck. Consisting of a double bed (A mid-bed divider can separate into two singles), private ensuite and plentiful storage space.

Beluga is managed by 7 full time professional crew consisting of the captain, first mate, engineer, chef, chief stewardess, stewardess and deckhand.

Capt. Peter Lacey

Capt. Peter Lacey

CAPTAIN – Originally from South- East Queensland, Peter has a diverse amount of maritime experience. From the extreme; heavy tackle game fishing, diving expeditions, sailing and navigating around Australia and overseas to teaching maritime courses in Cairns. We are fortunate to have him onboard with his wide range of knowledge and extraordinary background.

While your onboard he will ensure that everything is running smoothly during your stay on Beluga.

Jake Ferris

FIRST OFFICER – Jake is Australian born and bred with a keen interest in boats and water sports including diving, free diving, surfing, fishing. Jake has been in the yachting industry for many years and has worked on various yachts around the world before settling in beautiful Port Douglas.

Being a qualified dive Instructor, Jake is on hand to guide you through the best dive sites on the Great Barrier Reef and enjoys treating guests to all the adventures we have right on our doorstep.

CHEF – Danielle comes from Cairns, Far North Queensland; The doorstep to The Great Barrier Reef. Her father introduced her to yachting at a young age & she still shares the same devotion today. She commenced working as chef in the Whitsunday’s & since has become a well-travelled chef with a wealth of international experience. Having grown up in Port Douglas she is very familiar with the area & local produce. While guests on board she’s in the galley preparing your daily catch and superb cuisine.

CHIEF STEWARDESS – Megan’s childhood was spent in Coffs Harbour where she discovered a love for the ocean surfing at local beaches. She began her career in the yachting industry as a masseuse, progressing fast with her creative attitude & fast learning skills to become the passionate & strong chief stewardess that she is today. Megan has a wonderful sense of humour & provides the best customer service for guests while maintaining a fun & relaxed atmosphere for both guests & crew to appreciate. All to make our guests’ time onboard the experience of a lifetime!

Originally from Cairns in Far North Queensland, Ryan is your go to for local knowledge and advice whilst traveling through the area. He loves the outdoors, camping and especially spear fishing.

STEWARDESS – Lauren was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia with a background in Beauty Therapy, she has worked all over the world, opened her own salon and taught at a Diploma level at University.

Lauren started her career at sea in 2009 where she worked on Cruise Ships before adventuring into the yachting industry in 2016, travelling the Mediterranean. She now joins Beluga as our second stewardess.
Lauren is friendly, passionate person with interest for travel, exploring new places, nutrition and everything beauty.

Jayson Gray

Jayson Gray

Jayson originally hails from Gosford on the Central Coast in NSW, Australia. Jayson is a qualified and experienced Master 5 Captain and Crewman.

Jason ran and operated a Hamilton Island reef fishing charter boat for over 12 years before making his move to beautiful Port Douglas and joining our fleet.

Jayson rotates his role as Captain and Crewman between our game boats.
